We are truly blessed. It was divine intervention that brought us together. Our story begins with our Pastor - Ron. Not known for his matchmaking, he got a notion that we'd be a good match. In Ron lingo - he said that we're both pretty bright bulbs and might like each other. This is only after running the idea past the gatekeeper, Darla, his wife.
Well, we've both been down the fix-up route before and not really interested in another set-up. But thankfully neither of us wanted to say, "no" to the preacher. We each thought that we'd indulge him, meet one another, and move along with our lives.
After many failed attempts for a casual meeting, Travis took the bull by the horns and got Dawna's email address from Ron. And so on July 3, 2007 the first email was sent.
"Dawna, I know that this is kind of an awkward way for an initial introduction, but I have heard so many good things about you that I decided to take action..." The opening line to an email that changed the trajectory of their lives forever.
As for the response, "Travis - Nice to "meet" you. I know this a little unconventional, but I think it might be better than meeting for the first time in front of Ron and Darla... I think I would have felt nervous and awkward almost like I was a monkey at the zoo. LOL!"
And so it began. Emailing back and forth for a month with phone calls mixed in, Dawna and Travis finally had their first date on Aug. 3, 2007.
From this moment on, they've been inseparable. And on April 4, 2008 - Travis took Dawna to Shawnee Mission Park, got down on one knee and recited a poem that chronicled all the momentous events in their relationship ending with, "Will you marry me?"
We're so excited to share our lives with each of you. We truly know that our blessings run much deeper than just each other - our family and friends make our lives so rich and full of joy. So thank you and we love you all.
