Sonny and I met at First Baptist Church, downtown Jacksonville, following the loss of our spouses. We began encouraging each other and sharing about our spouses. It didn't take long to realize how much we had in common and to become fast friends. As we learned more about each other's spouse and marriage, we learned more about each other. That friendship soon grew into a dating relationship. We were engaged on December 31, 2008 at midnight. We are so thankful to God for allowing us the time and wonderful relationships we had with our spouses. Although we don't always understand God's ways, we trust Him. We are also thankful that God has brought the two of us together to continue on with our lives as He directs.

Because Sonny and I have been married before, we have more than what we need to start our new lives together. We have kitchen appliances, towels and picture frames coming out of our ears. We discussed the possibility of not registering at all, but I know many people would buy us a gift anyways, and it seemed wasteful. Besides, our biggest need is financial. Within the past five years, the two of us have paid for two weddings, 2 honeymoons, 2 wedding and engagement rings, extensive medical bills, two funerals....it goes on and on!!!! I know it is a bit untraditional, but we both thought that people would rather have their gift be put to use, instead of wasted by purchasing items we probably already have. |
