Day in City of CapeTown

With her mix of many cultures, Cape Town is well worth exploring on foot, moving from one quarter to the next and savouring the different character of each. The V&A Waterfront with its many shops, buskers, restaurants and breweries is always a vibrant, happening place. Within the complex it also has the Two Oceans Aquarium and the ferry station for Robben Island. In total contrast, is the Cape Malay (primarily Muslim) neighbourhood of Bo-Kaap with colourful houses, cobbled streets and the periodic calls to prayer. The gay quarter, De Waterkant, offers boutiques and coffeeshops and wine bars that contrast dramatically again with the hustle and vibe of the townships out on the Cape Flats. A township tour is a great opportunity to get to know more about Xhosa culture - its food, people and vibe - as well as to get an idea of the many other cultures that make up the township mix too. For a total contrast in atmosphere you can end your day living the cosmopolitan life in Camps Bay with its many bars and restaurants.

Cable Car Ride -Table Mtn

The treacherous cliffs forming the most south-western tip of Africa are some of the highest in the world and mark the spot where the cold Beguiler current on the West coast and the warm Agulhus current on the East coast merge. Inside the reserve you will find a variety of animals including buck, baboons and Cape Mountain Zebra as well as over 250 species of birds and indigenous flora that is found nowhere else in the world. Take a scenic drive, stop at one of the many picnic spots and tidal pools and travel to the Lighthouse lookout by funicular or on foot for spectacular views.

Shark Diving in Gansbaai

Great white shark diving at Gansbaai in South Africa is possibly the greatest thrill that you will ever experience. Just imagine pulling up on the boat in 'Shark Alley', the open stretch of water between the mainland and Dyer Island off Gansbaai, referred to as the shark diving capital of the the world. You sit patiently whilst the crew rummage in their bag of treats for these predators of the deep. To most people, sloshing around in a container full of fish heads and shark livers may not sound too desirable, but to our guests this is fantastic as it is a tasty meal for a great white.

Day Trip to Winelands

Set out from Cape Town towards the mountains of Stellenbosch, a historic and important wine producing area that is also becoming well known for its cheese production. First stop is Dornier, just outside Stellenbosch where you will be encouraged to taste local cheeses, olives and of course wine, concentrating on how the various tastes complement each other. Move on to the beautiful wine estate of Waterford where you will taste chocolate and wine, before visiting Audacia where you will be introduced to their variety of red wines. You will then be given 2 hours of free time to explore the historic centre of Stellenbosch before spending the afternoon at the large wine estate of Spier wandering around the lake, tasting their delicious wines and visiting the cheetah enclosure.

Whale Watching Boat Trip

Hermanus has the status of being the best land-based whale watching destination in the world. Southern right whales visit Walker Bay from June through to December and can be viewed from aboard a boat, an airplane or the shore. Hermanus is home to the world’s only Whale Crier who blows his kelp horn when whales are spotted along the central sea route.

Sea Kayak or Sailing Trip

We would love to snorkel in the shallow waters of the lagoon or dive to the Paquita wreck just inside The Heads at Knysna!

Shamwari Game Reserve

Shamwari GR is home to Africa’s Big 5 (elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard) and is situated in verdant bush along the Bushman’s River. Steeped in Settler history, and dating back to the time when a multitude of game roamed wild and free, the 20 000 hectare reserve boasts five eco-systems, thus enabling the support of many forms of plant, animal and bird life. This is an African adventure and conservation effort coupled with responsible tourism, which has seen them receive numerous international awards, including the World's Leading Conservation Company and Game Reserve for five consecutive years. The luxury tented lodge consists of nine tents nestled along the bed of the river, camouflaged under trees allowing ample privacy and unsurpassed comforts. Trip to Zebra Ntl Park

A few hours' drive from Port Elizabeth is the Mt. Zebra National Park, sanctuary for the Cape Mountain zebra and also home of the Burchell's zebra of the Northern plains. Zebras are a must see on our South Africa sojourn!

Day at Knysna Elephant Pk

Get up-close-and-personal with the resident African elephants and well-informed guidesyou will learn about the sad and mystical story of the Knysna Elephants. The Elephants at Knysna Elephant Park are all orphans rescued from culling operations in the Kruger National Park, except for Thandi who was born here. The Knysna Elephant Park provides these elephants with the best board and lodging. They have free range of the 60 hectare camp on which there is plenty to eat, some big trees to rub up against and two large dams for bathing and drinking. The elephant minders take the elephants for regular strolls through the forests and plantations in the mornings and evenings before being bedded down in the boma for the night.

Gorah Elephant Camp

The Gorah Elephant Park is the first private concession in the Addo Elephant National Park, situated along the Garden Route in South Africa’s Eastern Cape. This premier lodge is in malaria-free territory and the National Park has all the Big Five and is home to the densest elephant population on the planet. There is no electricity at Gorah so all lighting is rather romantically provided with candles and lanterns! The romantic atmosphere of the eleven spacious and luxurious tented suites recalls the golden era of safari in the early 1900s but has all the comfort and excellence associated with Africa's finest game lodges. There is an excellent outdoor terrace which opens up onto a teeming waterhole - elephant, buffalo, warthog, antelope and even lion are regular visitors! There is a fenced swimming pool area with a wonderful wooden deck and outdoor boma where guests can enjoy a traditional African barbeque under the stars.

Dinner at 'Blues' -CapeTw

The Blues Restaurant famous for their exquisite cuisine and has been a Cape Town landmark since it opened its doors in 1987. The menu has kept a careful balance between old and new, but has stuck to the Blues basics of simplicity, authenticity and freshness. The summer menu hints to Asian inspiration with items such as Thai Style Calamari Salad on crunchy oriental greens and Pan Seared Ostrich Teriyaki with a smear of wasabi and drizzled with sake and soya. Yum!
