Chianti Wine Tour

While in Florence, Kylie and Dave have scheduled to spend a full day with a private tour guide who will take them through the beautiful region of Tuscany. Send the newlyweds to several vineyards and wineries in the Chianti area where they can meet the people whose families have owned and operated the vineyards for generations. They will get to see the vineyards where the grapes are grown as well as where and how the wine is made. And, most importantly, they will get plenty of opportunities to sample the best wine in the world! Kylie and Dave expect this to be the highlight of their trip!

Gondola Ride in Venice

Send Kylie and Dave on ride through the maze of canals in Venice. As couples have for hundreds of years, they will see the Piazza San Marco, pass under the Bridge of Sighs and Rialto Bridge, travel along the Grand Canal, and see everything else the waters of Venice have to offer, all from the comfort of a traditional Venetian Gondola navigated by an Italian gondolier.

Vatican City

No trip to Italy would be complete without a visit to Vatican City, home of the Pope, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's Basilica. But, Kylie and Dave have arranged to partake in something truly amazing. They have the chance to attend a Papal Audience with His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI. But it get's even better. Because they are newlyweds, by showing their recent marriage license to the Swiss Guards, they will get to sit in a special section and actually have their marriage blessed by the Pope! If that weren't enough, the Papal Audience will be followed by a tour of the Vatica Museum, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's Basilica. This experience will be wedding gift that they hold close to their hearts for the rest of their lives.

Opera in Florence

Kylie and Dave are thrilled about the chance to do all things Italian on their honeymoon. While in Florence they plan to dress up and attend Giuseppe Verdi's opera, La Traviata. The opera, considered the most famous in Italy, will be performed with a full orchestra at the Theatro Auditoium Duomo which is in the heart of Florence.

Last Dinner in Italy

On their last night in Italy Kylie and Dave would love to have one final magical moment together by having dinner at the Ristorante di Canale Grande. Located at Hotel Monaco, the restaurant is one of the most famous in all of Venice and is set right on the waters of the Grand Canal with an amazing view of the illuminated Rialto Bridge. Send Kylie and Dave to enjoy the amazing cuisine and romantic ambiance of the restaurant while taking in the view of the moonlight twinkling off of the waters of Venice. Partying in Rome

Dave and Kylie are staying near the Camp de Fiori area which is known for it's open-air market, piazzas, and restaurants. But it's just as famous for its nightlife. Send them out for a night on the town where they can sample some Italian wines at a classy enoteca, drink Peroni and watch the locals scream at the soccer game on TV at a casual pub, and join in on the bustling street party that seems to form every night throughout the entire Campo de' Fiori area.

Venetian Lagoon Tour

On this tour Kylie and Dave will explore the famous islands of Murano and Burano, famous for their handicrafts as well as the island of Torcello to visit the first Cathedral in Venice. After a boat ride along the Venetian Lagoon they will first stop at the Murano Island, famous for its glass blowing. In 1921, the glass-blowing industry in Venice was moved to the island due to fire hazards and has become famous for its craft. During their visit they will explore shops, factories and watch the skilled glass blowers as they create works of art. When they are done on Murano they will re-board the boat and journey to the island of Burano to admire picturesque fishermen's houses painted in bright pastel colors. They will also have the chance to see and shop for the famous lace that is designed and manufactured there. The last island stop is Torcello, the earliest center of civilization in the Venetian Lagoon. They will visit the Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta, which was the first church in Venice, founded in the 7th century. They will also see the excavated remains of the circular baptistery at the Church of Santa Fosca.

Walking Tour of Venice

Send Kylie and Dave on a walking tour through Venice. They will visit the famous St. Mark's square (and surely be bombarded by pigeons) and learn the history that lies behind the walls of its most famous landmarks like the Basilica and Doge's Palace. Next they will explore the lively Campo Santa Maria Formosa with its outstanding Gothic Palaces. At the Scuola di San Marco they will learn about the famous trade schools of Venice. They will get to see Marco Polo's House and enjoy tales of this legendary globe-trotting Venetian. Other stops include the Church of San Giovanni e Paolo the "Pantheon of Venice" and an old merchant's warehouse before finishing the tour near the Rialto bridge. This is a chance for the newlyweds to discover a piece of Venice's histoy, what the city is like today, and how it is to live in the most unique city in the world.

Lunch in Greve

During their day touring Tuscany with a private guide, Kylie and Dave have planed to take a break from the wineries, vineyards, olive oil presses, and castles for lunch in the city of Greve. Located in the Chianti area, Greve is exactly what you'd picture a true Italian village to be. Greve in Chianti is the chief producing town of the world-famous Chianti red wine, characterized by vineyards, olive trees, Roman castles and medieval hilltop villages. Greve is famous for being the leader of the "Slow Food" philosophy. Slow Food was created to counteract fast food and fast life, the disappearance of local food traditions and people’s dwindling interest in the food they eat, where it comes from, how it tastes, and how their food choices affect the rest of the world. Chefs that adhere to the Slow Food practices and beliefs depend upon local organic farmers for their produce, pay special attention to how food is prepared, and savor the idea that, when it comes to food, faster is rarely better. Italy's Finest Museums

With a cultural history that has been documented for well over two millennia, Italy has no shortage of artistic masterpieces. Artists like Da Vinci, Raphael, Donatello, Botticelli, Cellini, Bernini, Caravaggio, and Michelangelo all have amazing works displayed in museums throughout Italy. Send Dave and Kylie on a cultural adventure where they can see Raphael's School of Athens, Myron's Discus Thrower, Botticelli's Birth of Venus, and of course two of the most renowned masterpieces ever made, Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel and statue of David. Tour of Tuscany's Castles

While in Florence, Kylie and Dave have scheduled to spend a full day with a private tour guide who will take them through the beautiful region of Tuscany. Throughout the Tuscan countryside castles, fortresses, watch-towers, and town walls appear everywhere; some are well preserved, others are in ruins, but all have a history and architecture that will take your breath away. Tour of Ancient Rome

Probably even more popular than its food and art, the architecture of Rome is immediately recognizable to almost everyone. Send Kylie and Dave on a guided tour throughout Ancient Rome where they can walk the same path that emperor's and gladiators walked centuries ago. They will see the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, Palatine Hill, Trajan's Market, the Baths of Diocletian, Appian Way, and the Pantheon. Along the way they will learn the history of these amazing structures and monuments that have withstood the test of time.

Tuscan Olive Oil Press

While in Florence, Kylie and Dave have scheduled to spend a full day with a private tour guide who will take them through the beautiful region of Tuscany. You can send the couple to an estate where fine olive oil and basalmic vinegar are made. They will tour the groves, walking through countryside as they see the olives being harvested, then they will go to the oliviera and watch the olives be pressed so that they can be turned into oils, and finally they will get to sample the freshest olive oil imaginable with various breads and garlics. This part of the tour will truly be a treat for Kylie and Dave!

Grocery Shopping Italiano

Sometimes the best part of traveling abroad is experiencing the differences in everyday aspects of life. In America, you go to a supermarket and buy all of your groceries in one stop. In Italy they go to the market for their produce, to the bakery for bread, and to a butcher for meat. One of the reasons Kylie and Dave booked an apartment in Rome was so they could us the kitchen to cook a meal together with fresh ingredients bought from the local markets and stores. Send the couple on an adventure through the open-air market in Campo De' Fiori area (which is within walking distance of their apartment) where they can pick through carts of fresh fruits and vegetables, then they will head to a bakery for Italian bread fresh out of the oven, next they will stop at a butcher shop for some choice cuts of meat, and they will end their trip with a quick visit to an enoteca for a bottle or two of Italian wine. This is sure to culinary bliss for the newlyweds!

Venetian Pub Crawl Dinner

A tradition unique to Venice, where no cars means easy crawling, hopping from restaurant to restaurant is easy, fun, and encouraged. Locals and tourists alike will spend an evening "crawling" from place to place sampling the antipastas (appetizers) and the house wines. Send Kylie and Dave on a culinary adventure through the maze that is Venice.

Night Tour of Rome

It's often said that Rome is two cities. A bustling, crowded, and touristy city by day. A romantic, passionate, and breathtaking city by night. To entice people to explore Rome at night all of the major sites, buildings, and attractions are illuminated and traffic is dramatically restricted. Send Kylie and Dave out on a tour to see Rome at its most beautiful. When they don't have to dodge speeding cars, street performers sing and play music in the piazzas, and the true romance of the Eternal City is exposed!

Trattoria der Pallaro

This Roman restaurant, located on a quiet square near the Pantheon, has no menu. Their slogan: "Here, you'll eat what we want to feed you" might sound like a gamble but it's worth the risk. Kylie and Dave will be served a five-course meal consisting of typically Roman food, including wine, coffee, and mandarin juice "digestivo" finale. The owner and chef, Paola Fazi, along with her family have a reputation for good hospitality and great food.

Dinner at Il Latini

Narcisso Latini opened his restaurant, Il Latini, in Florence nearly 60 years ago. Now in his 90's, Narcisso still stops in to lend a hand. Il Latini offers a true Tuscan spirit, where the dining table is a place to make friends and share common interests. Here, the wooden tables have witnessed important personalities in the world of culture meet side-by-side with ordinary diners. Communial seating, a bottomless bottle of wine, and an all you can eat menu that offers a 6 course meal (including a 2 lb. steak) will guarantee that Kylie and Dave not only have an amazing meal but also make some new friends.

Ristorante la Carbonara

One of Rome's most famous restaurants, Ristorante la Carbonara, is located in Campo de' Fiori's Piazza (just a short walk from our apartment). The only thing that might be better than the atmosphere of this restaurant is the food. This truly is the definition of a romantic dinner in Rome!

La Giostra in Florence

This restaurant is probably the most popular in Florence for superb food with amazing ambience. La Giostra is run by a Hapsburg (Swiss) prince, who fell in love with cooking and became a renowned Chef. A unique blend of Hapsburg tastes and fresh Tuscan ingedients create a menu that other restaurants envy. This is your chance to give Kylie and Dave a meal prepared by royalty!

L'Antica Birreria Peroni

L'Antica Birreria Peroni is Rome's version of a German beer hall. For over 100 years they've served up huge mugs of Peroni and lots of fun Italian cuisine, including their famous (or infamous) "Il Kilometer" sausage. Perfect for either lunch or dinner, L'Antica Birreria Peroni is located between the Trevi Fountain and Capitol Hill. This restaurant is just far enough off the beaten path to ensure that Dave and Kylie will have a great time dining and drinking amongst the locals.

Hostaria Costanza

Hostaria Costanza is a traditional Roman restaurant with a strong local following (not a tourist trap). Most Italian restaurants flaunt their outdoor tables and patios but Costanza is most proud of it's interior. The restaurant was constructed from the the arches of the ruins of Teatro de Pompeo (where Julius Ceasar was killed by Brutus and other conspiring Senators).

Ristorante Enoteca Corsi

Ristorante Enoteca Corsi is a wine shop that grew into a lunch-only restaurant. Located in Rome near the Pantheon and political district, this restaurant serves straight-forward traditional Italian cuisine to an appreciative politicians and businessmen. With hundreds if wines in stock Kylie and Dave are sure to find a few new favorites.

Vino Vino in Venice

The popular enoteca, Vino Vino, is the perfect place for Kylie and Dave to sample wines by the glass (or bottle) along with tasty antipasta dishes. Once they've had enough to eat and drink they are just a few short steps away from some impromptu dancing in St. Mark's Square to the tune of the famous dueling orchestras. Can you picture a more romantic setting for newlyweds?

Rivoire Cafe in Florence

Rivoire is a fantastic cafe with a splendid view of Palazzo della Signoria, the Fountain of Neptune, the Loggia dei Lanzi. At more than a century old (136 years to be exact), it is one of the oldest cafes in Florence. Famous for their delicacies of chocolate, pastry products, original cocktails and appetizers Rivoire is a must see for Dave and Kylie while they are in Florence!

Bellinis at Harry's Bar

Harry's Bar in Venice has been operating for nearly 80 years. It became world famous when Ernest Hemingway gave credit to the bar for helping to inspire his novel "Across the River and into the Trees" saying, "The book came to me in a sort of a haze, in Harry's Bar in Venice." Other famous customers have included Charlie Chaplin, Truman Capote, Woody Allen, and Aristotle Onassis. Some bars have disputed Harry's claim of inventing the Bellini, but no one can dispute that they've perfected it! Send Kylie and Dave to sit at Hemingway's regular table and drink Bellinis until they get their own hazy inspiration!

Italy's Best Pizza

Americans and Italians alike get into very intense debates over where the best pizza in Italy is found. Sold in restaurants and by street merchants, pizza makes for the perfect snack or lunch in between visiting the sites and attractions. Give the Newlyweds a chance to weigh in on the argument by treating them to pizza in Rome, Florence, and Venice.

La Mescita Fiaschetteria

This restaurant is a characteristic hole-in-the-wall just around the corner from Kylie and Dave's hotel in Florence and the Galleria dell'Accademia (home of Michelangelo's David) but a world away from the touris. They maintain a very authentic Tuscan menu (which the locals love) and reasonable prices that allow you to enjoy your meal guilt-free (Which all of students studying abroad love). Sounds like the perfect combination for an amazing lunch in between catching all of the sites Florence has to offer.

Lunch at Romolo

This restaurant is set in the onetime home of Raphael's love, La Fornarina, so it's safe to say the famous artist spent some time here. Any with good reason... Nowhere else do the lingering rays of the setting Roman sun seem more inviting than within the tavern garden of this charming Trastevere restaurant. Generations of Romans and tourists have enjoyed its romantic courtyard and , if they are lucky, Kylie and Dave might be serenaded by strolling musicians. Romolo is the perfect excuse for the newlyweds to check out the other side of the Tiber River.

Gelato throughout Italy

Appease Kylie and Dave's sweet tooth and treat them to Gelato all throughout their honeymoon. Gelato is an ice cream-like treat found all over Italy. Gelatarias offer as many if not more flavors than a traditional American ice cream parlor and most Americans are happy to sample as many of them as possible so that are sure they've found their favorite. This gift will give Kylie and Dave the chance to try lots of flavors from several gelatarias so that they can be sure they've found theirs!

Coffee Throughout Italy

Italians don't normally have a big breakfast to start out their day (they are probably still full from last night's dinner). A typical Italian breakfast normally consists of espresso/cappuccino/cafe and a pastry. Let Kylie and Dave put Starbucks to the test and find out what real coffee is about!

Breakfast in bed

Who doesn't want breakfast in bed while they are on their honeymoon? What better way to start your day than by eating breakfast in bed with the love of your life?

Pictures with Gladiators

Yes they are fake, yes it's tacky, yes it's overpriced... But who could pass up an opportunity like this? There are swarms of Italian men dressed as Roman Gladiators outside of the Colosseum and, for a fee, they will take pictures with Kylie and Dave. If they're lucky enough to find one who is playful he might even let them wear his helmet and hold his sword. While that surely won't bump their wedding portrait off of the mantle it would definitely make for a memorable picture from their trip to Italy!

Scooters in Rome

Renting scooters is an excellent way to see as much of Rome as possible in a short amount of time. However, the Roman streets are chaotic to say the least. Kylie says scooters are an accident waiting to happen while Dave says they are a party waiting to happen. This could very well be their first argument as a married couple. You have the power to end the dispute and decide who really wears the pants in this marriage. Scooters: Thumbs up or thumbs down? (Note to Reader: As with any marriage, the bride will surely reserve the right to veto your vote and take the money shopping. But she won't take all of Dave's fun away, he's more than welcome to carry her bags!)

Giardino di Boboli

Florence's Boboli Gardens began to take shape in 1549 when one of the richest families in Florence, the Pitti's, sold the palazzo to an even richer family, the Medici's. The gardens were developed as a gift for Eleanor of Toledo, wife of the Medici grand duke Cosimo I. The gardens consist of amazing landscaping, bodies of water, and statues. Over the years the gardens have grown to cover 11 acres and a relaxing stroll is a must on any trip to Florence.

Hire a private car and driver to pick up Kylie and Dave from Leonardo Da Vinci Airport in Rome and take them on a scenic drive through the Eternal City to their apartment.

Roma Pass

Kylie and Dave will be flying out of Springfield, MO with stops in Memphis and Amsterdam before they finally land in Rome.
