Shark cage diving

Great white shark diving at Gansbaai in South Africa is possibly the greatest thrill that you will ever experience. Just imagine pulling up on the boat in 'Shark Alley', the open stretch of water between the mainland and Dyer Island off Gansbaai, referred to as the shark diving capital of the the world. You sit patiently whilst the crew rummage in their bag of treats for these predators of the deep. To most people, sloshing around in a container full of fish heads and shark livers may not sound too desirable, but to our guests this is fantastic as it is a tasty meal for a great white.

Cape Town City Tour

With her mix of many cultures, Cape Town is well worth exploring on foot, moving from one quarter to the next and savouring the different character of each. The V&A Waterfront with its many shops, buskers, restaurants and breweries is always a vibrant, happening place. Within the complex it also has the Two Oceans Aquarium and the ferry station for Robben Island. In total contrast, is the Cape Malay (primarily Muslim) neighbourhood of Bo-Kaap with colourful houses, cobbled streets and the periodic calls to prayer. The gay quarter, De Waterkant, offers boutiques and coffeeshops and wine bars that contrast dramatically again with the hustle and vibe of the townships out on the Cape Flats. A township tour is a great opportunity to get to know more about Xhosa culture - its food, people and vibe - as well as to get an idea of the many other cultures that make up the township mix too. For a total contrast in atmosphere you can end your day living the cosmopolitan life in Camps Bay with its many bars and restaurants.

Winelands tour

Set out from Cape Town towards the mountains of Stellenbosch, a historic and important wine producing area that is also becoming well known for its cheese production. First stop is Dornier, just outside Stellenbosch where you will be encouraged to taste local cheeses, olives and of course wine, concentrating on how the various tastes complement each other. Move on to the beautiful wine estate of Waterford where you will taste chocolate and wine, before visiting Audacia where you will be introduced to their variety of red wines. You will then be given 2 hours of free time to explore the historic centre of Stellenbosch before spending the afternoon at the large wine estate of Spier wandering around the lake, tasting their delicious wines and visiting the cheetah enclosure.

Golf at Royal Cape

The history of Royal Cape had its beginning on the 14th November 1885 when a meeting, chaired by Lt Gen. Sir Henry Torrens, was held at the Castle "for the purpose of introducing the game of golf and starting a club for the same". Thus the Cape Golf Club, the first in South Africa, was born.

Explore Table Mountain

How you get to the top is entirely up to you - there are many options. But once you're up there you'll bask in the aerial view of sprawling Cape Town and her beautiful beaches glinting below. Table Mountain can be conquered in a number of ways: for those who take a leisurely approach to life, there's the cable car. Others prefer the more arduous route up through Skeleton Gorge. And then there's the ultimate Table Mountain experience: a full six-day exploration as part of the Hoerikwagga Trail. On the trail you start your adventure out at sea, followed by a guided walk through the centre of Cape Town, and either a hike or a ride up to the top of the mountain. How you get down again is also entirely up to you - there's always abseiling...

Praslin Island A helicopter ride over turquoise waters will bring you to the second largest island - Praslin. The French explorer Lazare Picault was the first to claim this island in 1774, and called it "Ile de Palmes" after its fantastic forests of palm trees. Later on, Mation Dufresne renamed it as "Praslin" in honour of Gabriel de Choiseul, Duke of Praslin. There are only a few small villages strewn across the island, whose population of about five thousand earn their living as fishermen, farmers or by catering for visitors to the island. The main attraction of Praslin is the National Park or "Vallée de Mai", which is home to a prehistoric rainforest of huge trees that dominate the landscape. The "Coco-de-Mer" coconut is famous for its large size, and infamous because of its striking similarity to the female genitalia! Large, "Dali-esque" granite formations decorate almost every beach on the island. The 8000-year-old coral reefs, populated by fantastically-coloured reef fish, make the island a mecca for snorkellers and divers. The unique beauty of its reef world cannot be found on dry land, but is almost equalled by the beauty of the island's spectacular, solitary beaches.
