Rome & The Vatican

We'll be transferred in smaller groups in minivans with exclusive escorts and guides. Lunch will be held in a first-class restaurant. Being a smaller exclusive group, we'll visit the Sistine Museum in the afternoon to avoid any long lines. Bottled water will be served in the minivan. In the morning, tour the Vatican Museum and the Sistine Chapel, boasting Michelangelo's magnificent ceiling. We'll gaze in awe at Piazza San Pietro, one of the world's most beautiful squares that faces the largest church in the world, St. Peter's. Some of its fabulous treasures will be shown to us by our guide during a brief visit. Continuing on an orientation drive through the Eternal City, we'll pass the Roman Forum, the Arch of Constantine and the famed Colosseum.

Athens & Its Scenic Coast

Reach the natural fortress of the Acropolis, and with our guide we'll walk up the uneven footpath heading to the summit. Sights include the Propylaea, Temple of Apteros Niki, Erectheum and the Architectural Triumph of the Parthenon. Continue with a city drive and see Constitution Square, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Royal Palace, Hadrian's Gate and the Old Marble Olympic Stadium. After lunch, we'll drive along the scenic coastal road which affords splendid views of the Saronic Gulf and takes us through some of Athens' most beautiful suburbs. We'll arrive at Cape Sounion to visit the Temple of Poseidon, standing some 200 feet above the sea at the edge of a cliff. It is one of the most breathtaking and deeply moving sights in all of Greece. Fifteen of the original 34 columns of the Doric order still stand in majestic splendor.

Turkey --Pergamon

We'll visit Pergamon, the intellectual center of Asia Minor, and an ancient healing center - Asclepion. Pergamon, a center of learning and arts possessed one of the greatest libraries of antiquity. Among the ruins lays an impressive amphitheater, the Temples of Trajan and Dionisus, the Altar of Zeus, the Sanctuary of Demeter, a three terrace gymnasium and the Agora. The next stop is Asclepion, located to the southwest of the lower city, which was a sanctuary dedicated to the god of health, Asclepios. This center was something very similar to a modern natural healing clinic where patients were given exercises, drugs, herbal remedies or the waters of the springs to drink. Galen, who first introduced the notion of experimentation to medicine, was among its famous physicians. Afterwards, our bus will take us to a carpet weaving center for refreshments and a chance to learn about carpet making which is a dying art, while enjoying our drinks and local snacks. The tour will end with a drive to Izmir.

Egypt

This is an overnight stay in Egypt. We will visit Alexandria, Cairo, and Memphis. We'll get to explore the pyramids, Giza Plateau, Sphinx, Mosques, have Dinner on the Nile, view a lights show of the pyraimds, etc! This is one of my life long goals... to see egypt and the only remaining wonder of the ancient world.

Valletta Malta-- Historic

We'll take a panoramic drive to Mosta to see its famous dome, considered the third largest in Europe. Continue on a drive to the historical city of Mdina for a walk through its narrow streets, visiting St. Paul's Cathedral and ramparts, dating back to the 9th century. Walk through the public garden to Rabat where you'll visit St. Paul's Catacombs, an underground burial place used by the early Christians. Then drive to Ta' Qali Handicrafts Village where you'll see a number of local artisans at work producing typical Maltese ware, which includes glass, silver and filigree.
